Why I Settled!
Why I settled? I'm sure inquiring minds would like to know, but one person in particular was myself. After numerous situationships, broken hearts, and failed attempts of "love", I began to ask myself why I settled. Why did I settle for relationships or situationships that would eventually profit me nothing? Why did I settle for less than what I deserved?, Why did I settle for good enough instead of waiting for the absolute best? So many why's unanswered and finally the answer that was revealed to me was mind blowing and life altering, that I am inspired to write this post because I believe that your life will never be the same and there will be an entire paradigm shift that occurs within you by the time you are finished.
As I sit here and begin to release all that the Lord has given me; I began to re-read my introductory paragraph (to hear aloud the flow of my writing), and the Lord spoke and said "That's Why",so of course I'm like huh, What do you mean? In my mind all I'm doing is rereading a paragraph (lol), writing, rephrasing and erasing, and He said because "you were doing it"! [Selah] In my introductory paragraph there was a lot of emphasis on "I", I made the all the choices, and God was not in it. The question I initially posed asks "Why I settled?", when the answer is in the question itself. I settled because I chose too!
Choice may be defined as the act of making a decision when faced with two or more possibilities. Which possibilities are you choosing? Jeremiah 29:11 clearly tell us that God knows the plans He has for our lives; To settle is to choose to follow our plans for our own lives. I chose my plans over the plans God has for me; I settled. I chose to accept standards lower than what my Heavenly Father predestined for me.
Anything you have planned without God would be inferior to the plans He has set for our lives. In life we are presented with many possibilities, and then we are tasked to make a decision, and the decisions we make tend to determine the path of life we have set before us. Everything presented before you is not good for you! The word of God tells us we are presented with life and death, blessings and curses, but choose life so you and your children may live. (Deut. 30:19) Cee translation, there will be presentations in your life that will either birth an abundance of blessings and new beginnings, or breed destruction and take away from the life God has intended for you. To settle or not to settle, the choice is initially yours.
Now, I know some of you may be wondering, how to identify if you are settling. Initially I wanted to attribute settling to the most obvious reasons, i.e. choosing to remain in toxic, unfaithful relationships, or the most obvious "We don't need a title to define us" type of situationships; but the revelations the Lord gave me is so much greater than that!
To settle is choosing to do things outside of its season. The word of God tells us in Ecclesiastics 3:1 " To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." When we do things out of season, we settle and compromise the full vestment of our fruit. Our fruit is never given the opportunity to fully develop. A premature fruit will die and seed plucked before its time, can't last; nothing can come of it. Have you ever wondered why God created seasons, or why he said there is a time for everything? He did this because 1. He is God (lol) 2. Because He understood the importance of waiting until you were fully mature to handle the weight of the blessings He has prepared for you, and He knew that at YOUR APPOINTED TIME, you would be ready. When it's not your season, instead of settling you should have the mindset of hibernation. Yes, I said hibernation! Hibernation is a state of inactivity for animals, or form of deep sleep to help them survive the winter months. REVELATION: When the winter comes in your life (the harsh season, when the enemy acting crazy, everything/everyone that you are resisting is becoming persistent) this is when you HIBERNATE! Your mindset should become, No! I can't entertain this because it's not my season and protect yourself. There is a time to be diligent, a time to be patient, a time to wait, and a time to reap all that you have been waiting for. Don't allow your impatience to compromise your integrity, and have you operating out of season. Unripe fruit doesn't taste good. It was plucked too soon.
Whenever you make the choice to operate outside of your appointed season, or the will of God for your life you choose to settle. It wasn't until I came to know the love of Jesus Christ that I was able to consciously make the decision to do otherwise. I came to understand the importance of receiving the love of Christ so I would no longer choose to accept whatever the world presented to me as love. I no longer made decisions based off of past experiences or experiences of those who have gone before me. I made the choice to trust God. I received the love of God, and began to love myself. Don't settle for the world's presentation of love, but encounter the real thing (The Love of Christ!) When you don't know what you deserve, you accept whatever is presented to you, and when you don't know your worth or your value you allow others to give it to you. I am speaking from experience! Now, I choose today to stand on the word of God in all my endeavors. I shall be patient and wait on the Lord, because His plans, and His thoughts for my life are greater than anything I can perceive for myself.
My prayers for you is that, whomever reading this may make the decision today to not settle, but wait on God. I pray that your heart is yielded to receive the love of Christ. I pray that you don't grow weary well doing, but that you receive peace that surpasseth all of your understandings. I pray that during your moments of temptation and loneliness, you will experience the strength of God like never before. I pray that you are alert, and guarding your heart above all else, so you will not be blinded by the distractions of the enemy. Lastly, I declare by faith that you are rooted and grounded in love.
As I encourage you today, I encourage myself! I rejoice today because God is faithful, and His promises for your life shall come to pass!
